The assumption is that a cheaper vendor delivers the same value. The reality is that a vendor who knows the equipment can save you from making that $400 mistake in the first place.

The Price of Ignoring the Manual

But here’s the bigger thing. My team didn’t just ignore the part number. We ignored the instructions. When the wrong rotor arrived, we tried to make it fit. We spent an entire Saturday morning with a technician trying to retrofit it. We ruined a perfectly good gasket. That $800 repair bill was entirely our fault. So what’s the solution? It’s not rocket science. It’s boring, operational discipline. Here’s what I do now:
